Home > Repeater Guide > Signal improvement & coverage area What sort of signal improvement and coverage area can I expect?Once you have installed your cell phone repeater you can expect to receive full bars on your cell phone when you are near the cellular amplifier device. As you move away from the cell phone amplifier, the signal strength will gradually fall, and in ideal conditions you should easily be able to make and receive calls within a 2,500 square feet area around the cell phone repeater. The exact coverage area depends on a number of different factors, including the construction materials of your home or office, as well as the signal strength where the directional antenna has been installed. In order to maximize the coverage area, you will need to have at lease 2 bars of signal somewhere outside or inside your home, where the directional antenna can be installed. If the cell phone signal near your home is weak, then you should consider purchasing a Yagi antenna to improve the signal strength and quality (see our 800 MHz Yagi Antenna or 1900 MHz Yagi Antenna upgrade products). During repeater installation, you should take care to install the cell phone repeater as centrally as possible, and as far as possible from any metallic obstructions. As with all electromagnetic signals, the broadcasted power from your cellular repeater is weakened as it passes through walls, and is particularly absorbed by metallic objects.
